Easy Button

Aight yea yea so. Tomorrow is the first day of second semester of nursing school..So what can I say. Skimmed by last semester but as I've heard C's make degrees.. or something like that.
Well one this is for sure, I don't think that I'll be finding the "Easy Button" anywhere this semester. I'm gonna have to buckle down because I hear that the first and second semesters are the hardest. So I got my books packed and I'm ready to rock and roll....Just hope I'm still rockin at the end

My Chat With Wisdom

So I had the opportunity to spend a lil time chatting with one of my patients tonite. He was 76 years old and had sky blue eyes with small pupils and shaggy gray hair. At first we were just random chatting about my school and his past jobs and how rocket scientists had no common since, but he then mentioned about his age. He told me that a man his age knows that he is never gonna be well again. Jokingly I said "Ahhh you got what 20 or 30 years left?" He looked at me with tears in his eyes and as he counted to 5 on his fingers he said "If I make it 5 more years I'll be 81...that will be a good life. You see when you get old and a disease hits you, you know your not gonna get better...you stop lookin' for quantity and you start looking for quality."

You know he's right...but the thing is.. none of us know the master plan. No one can honestly say that they are gonna wake up from their nites sleep. Just really got me to thinking about life and how I spend it. Of course there are tough times, but I guess it honestly depends on when we realize it that determines the quality of that gift

2009

Well I haven't blogged in ages. One reason could be that my keys on my computer are falling off. Although that is not the main reason. NURSING SCHOOL is the reason I have no life at all. Nursing has also effected my life in other ways. No one reads this stuff anyways but...any one who knows me obviously knows that 2009 wasn't my favorite year. My grandmother and step mother got diagnosed with cancer and I went through a breakup with Brittany. I said a lot of hurtful things to her after the break up...idk why i said them..I guess its because I was hurt. So anyways... I don't know what 2010 holds in store for me??? Hopefully not a lot of disappointments like '09. I've struggled spiritually as a result of all the drama that went on but I'm trying to get back on task with all that. I guess the one thing that I learned from last year is "Always Expect Disappointments." I suppose when we get comfortable is when we stop watching our backs...then we complain about the knife that is in there....so basically...your responsible for your life...and your back too!!

FREQUENCY

So we are kicking off a new ministry at church and I'm so pumped about it! FREQUENCY is gonna be a high energy service that is geared toward reaching today's youth where they are at and introducing them to the power of JESUS! Its gonna be cross-denominational movement so anyone can come! The first FREQUENCY will be held this Friday at the Boaz Church Of God. We are hoping to grow and possibly get the Snead State Bevil Center in the future!

ALSO! FREQUENCY has had the pleasure of partnering with THE BASEMENT (www.thebasementonline.com)! The Basement is officially the largest youth movement in the World and Frequency is excited to be under their umbrella!

For any info you can message me on myspace or facebook or call the Boaz Church Of God

Business As Usual

So here's the deal. Just updated my Twitter (Yea I twitter) and it said "Tired of Business as usual". So that could mean so many things so lemme elaborate. So I've just visited the website for the now official largest youth movement in the country the Basement (check em out at www.thebasementonline.com ). You can read the story of how it all got started on the website.

Anyways, So like God is moving in a powerful way down there and that's great! But I'm so sick of being caught up in this whole tradition of "church"..whatever that means. God saved him and radically turned his life around and now he is sharing that good news with thousands upon THOUSANDS of teens each week!

Sooo..why can't that happen in my life..whats keepin' me or anyone who reads this blog from experiencing this type of transformation. So while I was feelin sorry for myself I started to watch one of their online services. Thanks to my super slow computer, I still haven't got to finish watchin it~ but anyways the lil intro thing was pretty cool and it had a slogan that popped up on there
"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got"

Now Pastor Wayne used to say that slogan while I was at Fyffe and its been awhile since I've heard it, but it really messed up my pitty party.

The only thing that has/is/or will keep me from experiencing a move of God in my life is..not the devil..but its ME!!! God is constant and He's just looking for a REALationship with me.

Pardon my misspelling but isn't that quite revolutionary. God is wanting a REAL relationship with me..or you.. Not religion. Not rules. Not bondage. But a Relationship.

So now that my pitty party has been officially ruined, I suppose that I'm going to have to try some things different. Because I'm definitely not pleased with where my relationship with God is Now.. So some things are gonna have to be done different. Not sure what, but I'm sure that God will let me know!

Revolutionary Worship

So I'm reading a book entitled "Wired For A Life Of Worship" by Louie Giglio and it has really challenged my view of what worship really is. I suppose that I have fell into the trap of thinking that worship falls into the category of Sunday Morning at 11 am and Wednesday Nites at 7. Well the book offers a totally different aspect. Giglio says that everyone worships: no matter what religion they are, people everywhere worship. Some worship money, sex, the perfect job, or Religion. Ok so he really didn't say religion, but I just thought that I would add that one in there. Anyways, so I have honestly just finished the first chapter, but its really inspired me to do a checklist of what I worship.
So after doing this checklist, I found that I worship quite a few things actually. I worship my relationships, my future job, and my Xbox 360 (lol). So I'm sure that you've heard the phrase "Put your money where your mouth is". Well, I believe that Jesus is chillin' in Heaven and looking down at all us "Christians", who claim to worship Him, and saying "Put your TIME where your mouth is. At least that is what He is saying to me. I'm so good at spending time everywhere else except in time with God.
Wow! So its well said that worship is a lifestyle, and I've heard that dozens of times before... I guess its just really sinkin' in...FINALLY
Well I hope that I haven't lost anyone through my ADHD blogging....haha who am I kidding. No one ever reads these blogs hahaha!

When We Fall Behind

I found this inspiring story while just surfing the net...maybe you've heard it; maybe you haven't. Either way here goes!

Derek Redmond’s career was affected by injuries. He failed to finish the 400m final at the Olympics in Seoul when he sustained an Achilles problem and four years later the same thing happened again. Along the back straight, his hamstring snapped and Redmond fell. He pulled himself up, determined to finish the race. His father had been watching from the stands close to where the drama had unfolded and, dodging his way past officials, he jumped over the railing onto the track to help his son finish the race.

Isn't that the same way it is with us? While "running the race of life" there are obstacles, trials, and screw ups on our end of the deal. But when these circumstances come against us and we fall and we can't make it on our own, our Heavenly Father comes out from the stands and picks us up and helps us through the tough times.

Nursing!!!

Well I've figured out that the best route for me to go as far as my nursing goes is to be an LPN first. I've talked to some people and I would be able to graduate quicker and get a stable job with some benefits and then through the LPN Mobility Program at Snead, I would be able to get my ASN through all online classes. So that is the update the only thing standing in my way now is getting a higher grade on the Reading Part of the Compass test. Whats the compass test?? I have to take it because I didn't take the ACT. So I never really like grammar and all that sort of stuff in high school and now I have to take a test on all that after not doing any of it in over 4 years. Basically sucks, but I have to do it. So if ya get a second, say a prayer for me so that I can get in and get my life rollin' on!

Its Been Awhile!!

Well its been a looong time since my last blog. In fact, I have no clue when the last time I wrote one. Oh well. Any ways, things are goin pretty good. Some things have changed, but nothing major. I got a new dog! He was in a ditch on the side of the road so Susan (woman I work with) picked him up and now he's chillin with me. Brittany named him Jake after T.D. Jakes lol.. Well another thing that changed is that I'm not apart of the band "Beyond The Altar" anymore. It ended as quick as it started pretty much.

I'm now apart of the youth staff at church! I think that I'm gonna like it. Hopefully it will get me more involved with the students and it will help me in my ministry. I now also work with "The Rock" on Sunday mornings. I absolutely LOVE working with the kids there! They are sooo awesome and its awesome to see their passion for God and how they don't care what anyone else thinks. They all come running to "Worship Zone" and worship during praise and worship. Then when they listen to the message, Sis Paula or John give an altar call and they come flooding into the altar. It really is an awesome thing to witness their passion for God!

Well that gives everyone who might read this a quick update into my life. Hopefully I'll have the time to start blogging more and if I can find the chord that goes to my computer maybe I can upload some pics lol.

Deuces!

Cutting The Chord

Well I guess that you could say that on my last blog I de-railed a bit. I just let frustrations get the best of me. So I'm now gonna try to start a new leaf so to speak. I'm "cutting the chord" on some things in my life. I have allowed some things to hold me back...So now I'm starting a fresh new life. I've cut the chord from what people think about me, from fear, from past sins and anything else that has a negative effect in my life. I just want to totally surrender to God and let Him have control in my life I want Him to be the for-runner of all of my decisions. So my advise to anyone that might actually read these things is just to not be held down by anyones expectations and don't let anyone hold you back! Just cut the chord and Let Go and Let God use you in any way He may choose. Rest a sure...it will be a rockin ride!!!

Frustration....

I'm somewhat..well actually I'm really frustrated. I find it so frustrated because people in the church are so...well they just don't trust God to put it lightly. It seems that everyone goes to church to do their "churchly choir" and amens the preacher while when the rubber meets the road, they don't believe everything that the Bible says.
I felt the call into ministry. So I decided to presue that calling and attend Lee University. I went and I absolutely loved every second of it until I ran into some health issues that cause me to have to take a break. All the while I was receiving statements like "You really can't make a good living as a youth pastor" or "Money makes the world go round and you won't get it being a youth pastor" and my personal favorite "There is no security in the ministry, especially youth ministry."
All of these comments frustrated me to no end. Everybody carries their Bible to church and we've all read the God will supply all my needs scripture, but yet it seems everyone tries to make it on their own ability.
Now I have no problem with people who work hard and earn their livings. That is great and wonderful, but I get totally frustrated when so called "Christians" put doubt in the mind of people possibly wanting to presue the call into ministry. I thanks God for PW because he has had the single greatest impact on my life and I'm so glad that he presued the call into his ministry.
Well that was just me venting a lil bit.. lemme know what ya think!
Peace!

Complacency

So this is just something on my mind...that that is what bloggins' for!
So I don't know if its just me but complacency is killing the church. Does the "members" in the church not realize that there are teens that are in the world that are dying. A generation is just dying and it seems to me that there are only a few good workers that are out there. There are a ton of people who start out with good intentions and just "fizzle out". My heart goes out to those people also, but its def not far to make the teens suffer. Might not make since..but there it is

Flat Tires and Faith In Jesus

So I get off of work today, walk outside and realize that I have a flat tire. Just great. Not only is it a flat, but it is a flat on my back set of tires, which are new. Ya not to mention that I need to get some new tires on the front. Right now is not the best financial time of my life... I mean, I work at a thrift store for crying out loud. So I walk to the Dollar General and buy a can of Fix-a-flat. It airs up and I head home!
So on the way home I'm contemplating how I'm gonna pay for a new tire. My car insurance is due next month, which is like 300 dollars, and now this? I was so overwhelmed. I didn't know what to do, and still don't. But as I was on my way home, I just sighed and said "God I don't know how I'm gonna pay for this, but I know that You are in control. So I continued my drive home and I past a church sign and it read "Just Be Faithful And Let God Worry Bout The Rest"
So I guess to rap up this first post. I'm not really sure HOW I will find the money to fix this, but one thing that I do know is that God Will Provide!!

Is There Any Hope???

Is there any hope? Is there really freedom to be found? Or are we all just wondering in circles trying to find answers that do not exist? I sound a bit "anti god" there, but I'm am just wondering? Seems as of late things on the outside are going great, but on the inside things are falling into so many pieces that I can't see them ever being put back together correctly... I know what the Bible says and all bout how God will never put more temptation on us than we can bear, but I'm alot weaker in my own eyes than God's I suppose...seems as tho every time I'm faced with a temptation or trial... I always fail.

Am I all alone on this one...just being real...

Spring Cleaning and Spiritual Discipline

So for those of you who don't already know, I work at the Downtown Rescue Mission in Albertville... its pretty much a thrift store, but we have a homeless shelter in Huntsville...anyways. So at work today I get asked to clean the floors. This would be an easy task if the floor was vinyl, but no..its carpet. And under the shelves there is a build up of dust and things that have fell off and broken and rolled under the shelves and God knows what else!
So I approached this task reluctantly. And I'm not one to say that I "heard God Speak", but I did feel like it was one of those "mysterious ways" that God works. Anyways, as I am cleaning I was thinking to myself "This would be so much easier if they would have just kept it vacuumed from the beginning...it would be sooo much less work.
Then God started speaking to me about how our lives would be so much easier if we would just come to him and let him "vacuum and clean" our hearts. This hit me pretty hard. Then He continued to say that the church has took the same approach that earlier employees had taken....we (the church) didn't address some subjects and just slide them under the shelf so that when people come in we appear to have everything in order, but at closer inspection they find that things are really getting out of hand.
That got me really thinking....I mean how often does someone hear a sermon on lets say.....fornication. The word may occassionally pop up here and there, but the subject is rarely addressed. The church just "swept it under the rug" and now we have a whole other relm of things that come from that issue not being addressed: homosexuality, abortion, ect. I wonder if the church would have taken a more defined stand, not in hate, but in love if things would be somewhat different.
Now for those of you who are thinking I'm being judgemental... I'M NOT!! I'm just simply tired of seeing teens that struggle with the same sins that satan has been using for decades and when you go to a youth rally or service you hear "Bible Stories".
None of this might not make any since, but I believe with all my heart that God needs, and is, raising up some leaders that will tackel the tough issues that are attacking this generation and take an offensive stand on these issues....
Teens today face a lot...more and more each day.. its not just peer pressure any more folks. Its time that we, as the body of Christ, rise up a standard against the enemy and reach out to save a dying generation that is simply looking for one thing.....Love

Everybody's Yesterday

Well, I haven't blogged in forever. So I guess I'm just gonna let some things out that has been on my mind reciently. The one thing that I have been pondering on for the past couple of days, weeks, months, and even years is yesterday. I know that it may seem funny and many of you may wonder what I'm talking about. I will continue on and maybe you can relate.

It is amazing to me as a Christian about how our yesterdays still affect our todays and even our tomorrows. I know for me that when I make a mistake or even just don't read my bible enought that the Devil is constantly bringing up stuff like that and keepin' it on my mind. I hate it so much. I know that the Bible says that there is no condemnation for those in Christ, but sometimes that is hard to grasp. I mean, if I had someone that was telling me they loved me and they kept doing me wrong....I would have a hard time forgiving them. But that is the good thing about God. He has ways far above our ways and I don't know how he keeps loving me sometimes, but I'm sure glad He does!

I guess for now I'll just do like the Apostle Paul said (I think it was Paul) "I'm focusing all of my energy of forgetting the things of the past and looking toward the future"
